Can't beat this price point--the pros & a few minor cons

This Dirt Devil Quick Lite vacuum is what is says it is: quick & light. I'm mostly impressed with the price and the size, making this the perfect vacuum choice for the college student, those moving into their first home, and anyone else needing a "light duty", inexpensive vacuum. I don't usually do pros & cons reviews, but what the other reviewers have said is all spot on, so I'll give a quick list of my likes & dislikes on this little vacuum...PROS* Easy to assemble. One screw is included (already screwed into the vacuum's back) for easy attaching, then it's simply a matter of snapping the handle and hose into place. Voilà , you're done!* The PRICE! You can't beat this price. For those who need a decent, cheap upright vacuum, I'd definitely recommend this one.* Powerful suction. Very powerful suction. It picked up an impressive amount of dirt & dust on it's first few uses. I also own a Dyson DC24, which is very comparable in size & suction (though... 4/5 H. Powerful Cleaner

I'm disabled and I can't move around a heavy, hard to move vacuum very easily, but this Dirt Devil is a nice light weight and powerful.I have two cats and when summer comes along there is cat hair everywhere and I need to clean up around here.I had been using a rechargeable vacuum (other brand) because it was light and easy to move around but it wasn't doing the job I was hoping for, so when I saw the name Dirt Devil, I jumped at the chance to try it out because I've always heard positive things about D.D.It's very easy to put together and requires only a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the screw, then position and tighten the screw holding the back panel. That's it and then everything else just pops into place, very fast and simple. As I said before, I had been using a different vacuum and it seemed to be doing an OK job, but after using the Dirt Devil, I could not believe how much was in the dirt cup after only a few minutes of use. I... 5/5 Kent J. Smythe (CA USA) - See all my reviews, July 4, 2012

    Terrific Product, Great Price

This little vacuum is perfect for people who live in an apartment or small house. It's small, handy, lightweight, and doesn't require any bags.I got this with my daughter particularly in mind. Her house is pretty small, and she, her husband and daughter and their dinky little obnoxious chihuahua all live there. Needless to say, especially with a 2-1/2 year old and that little wharf-rat dog, a lot of "litter" is generated and ends up on the floor.A couple of years ago I gave her a full-size Kenmore upright, but it was simply too big for her useage; physically too large, and she'd constantly call me up to come see why it wasn't sucking up the dirt. It turned out -- every single time -- that the bag was full. Then she could never find time to go get new bags! Needless to say, it hasn't been used very much.So I loaned this to her, and she loves it. It's small and light, and provides much better access to small areas... and there are no bags! Just empty... 5/5 Brian Baker (Santa Clarita, CA) - See all my reviews, July 4, 2012

Smaller than expected, but a good cleaner.

Despite shipping hiccups and a few cracks in the plastic which were easily repaired with a bit of duct tape, the vacuum is a great little sucker. I have a 2 bed, 2 bath apt. with 2 cats and a large dog, so I have to empty the container a couple times each room. This would be a lot better for an apartment without pets, but in the end it works really well and cleans great, so it doesn't really bother me to empty it often. The suction is pretty amazing, my roommates GF has the original DD Breeze (12 amp, non cyclonic) and this really does a better job, pushes easier, and cleans up more dirt even while only having a 10 amp motor. The tools are simple but work fine as well and the hose connects simply and sturdily. All in all its a great cheap vacuum, I would spend a bit more if I could do it over again and get a heavier duty and larger dirt container vacuum instead. That all said, if you are debating between the ~$50 vacuums, this is probably the one to get as its the latest... 2/5 Jake Smith (Phoenix, AZ) - See all my reviews, August 31, 2012

A Video of the the Dirt Devil Breeze

Customer Video Review Length:: 3:36 MinsThe Dirt Devil Breeze Bagless Vacuum Cleaner is a powerful but lightweight upright vacuum cleaner. I have tried other Dirt Devil upright vacuum cleaners with mixed success. Dirt Devils offer a nice combination of power and value, but I have had issues with quality. The Dirt Devil Breeze seems to follow that pattern. It was easy to assemble and offer plenty of power, but I am afraid that the canister will have issues snapping (and staying) in place.Notes- - The vacuum is lightweight and can be easily lifted with one hand - Limited number of attachments - Actually, it only has one 1 attachment - the attachment for the stairs - Bagless system - all of the debris is trapped in the canister, so the Dirt Devil Breeze does not use a bag. While it does not have bag it does have a washable and reusable filter. - Assembly is simple - it requires a philips head screw driver and about 5 minutes... 4/5 CKE (USA) - See all my reviews, December 8, 2012

A Smallish Cleaner for Smallish Spaces

0 5/5 Oldog_Oltrix "Larry" (Washington DC) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Dirt Devil Breeze Cyclonic Bagless Upright Vacuum, UD70105 (Misc.) This is a reduced-size vacuum cleaner, so the canister is smaller and has to be emptied more often. However, the cleaning performance is the equal of most larger cleaners. Their cyclonic technology really does work. This is an excellent choice for a studio apartment or one-bedroom apartment. Don't try to clean your 3-bedroom house with it. Wrong tool for the job. It's made of plastic. It's well-made, but you have to treat it with respect.Buy extra belts, and then remember where you put them. Sooner or later, something will get tangled in the brush roller and you will burn up a belt before you can reach the power switch. It's not a flaw, it's a vacuum cleaner fact of life.I spent a lot of hours studying vacuum cleaners and reading reviews. You can save a lot of work by trusting me. Or, do it the hard way. Whatever. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , February 18, 2013

Great little vacuum for small spaces!

I got this vacuum on one of those Black Friday deals, and wasn't expecting much, since it was so cheap, & the box was so light. When I opened it, and it went together like a lego toy, I was skeptical. But it's amazing!! It's never going to be your only vacuum if you have a big house (the wheel base is small, so you'd be doing a lot of walking back & forth), but if you have a little apartment, or want to keep a seperate vacuum upstairs, or in different rooms of your house, this vacuum is perfect for that! It's basically a hand-held vac, that has a detachable stick-handle, vacuum/wheel base, and crevice tool. Unlike the cordless hand-vacs, it doesn't lose power after 30 seconds, because it's electric. The crevice tool works great, and it's as light weight as one of those kids' toy vacuums. Also, when I emptied it (you will have to empty it pretty much every time you use it, but what do you expect?) I was shocked at how much dirt was in it- I'd just vacuumed with my expensive... 5/5 stefany9579 (Olympia, WA United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Dirt Devil Simpli-Stik Lightweight Corded Bagless Stick Vacuum, SD20000RED (Kitchen) I got this vacuum on one of those Black Friday deals, and wasn't expecting much, since it was so cheap, & the box was so light. 0 4/5 DaddyDisasters - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Dirt Devil Simpli-Stik Lightweight Corded Bagless Stick Vacuum, SD20000RED (Kitchen) So she's taking the vacuum cleaner in the divorce? Big whoop. I get the dog. A man's dog. So I needed a man's vacuum cleaner. For the price of a man's $20. I get this thing and try it around the house for a bit and it did man-wonders with the dog hair and kid hair and even some man hair throughout the place. The future ex-wife comes over and spots my new mancuum and says "What were you thinking? This vacuum will not do anything you need it to do; it can't handle the dog hair or anything else here." I swear to Odin that she said that.I calmy looked her in the non-man eyes and said "I appreciate your critique; however that Lil Devil handled her hair with ease and this house is spotless because of it. Would you like to try it? It's a delightful experience."Alright, one small victory in five years...AND IT'S ALL THANKS TO MY DIRT DEVIL SD20000RED VERSA POWER ALL-IN-ONE STICK VACUUM CLEANER!Sorry. Excellent Vacuum

NOVEMBER 2014 UPDATE: Just happened to be responding to a response to my review and noticed all the negative comments about this vacuum! I'm shocked! While I don't doubt any of these reviews, I do have to say that I am still very happy with the vacuum, and so is my daughter with hers. It still runs beautifully and I have absolutely no complaints. Nothing has gone wrong with any of the parts or attachments. Can't comment regarding the customer service issues and that is unnerving to know. However, spending $200 for a vacuum is not a huge amount of money. For me, personally, I would still be happy with mine even if it started to act up after a few years of use. Things just aren't built the way they used to be. If Kenmore vacs were built the way they used to be (I had my old one for 15 years), I would have bought another Kenmore. For me, my Panasonic is holding up and I'll just keep my fingers crossed for the future!January 2013 UPDATE: It's been a year that I've owned and... 5/5 Grammy2 "Loving Life" - See all my reviews This review is from: Panasonic MC-CG917 "OptiFlow" Bag Canister Vacuum Cleaner (Misc.) Nicely built, excellent performance. Just a few minor issues.

Overall I'm very pleased with this vacuum. It excels in the areas that are most important in a vacuum - it picks up dirt very well and it is solidly built.I find the second factor (build quality) to be something that's becoming harder to find these days. For example, I had a Hoover bagless canister that performed very well, but lasted less than 3 years before calling it quits. Along the way it started shedding pieces, such as a cracked hose, an on-again, off-again working status for the power head, and so forth. The Panasonic, however, feels very substantial, especially the hose. I know you're not supposed to pull it along by the hose connection, but I do (and I suspect that many others do as well). The hose is made of thick plastic and the end connectors seem very well up to the task of being stressed now and again. This is my second Panasonic vac - the other one is about 2 or 3 years old and works (and looks) as good as it did on day one (albeit some scuffing... 5/5 Comdet - See all my reviews, December 7, 2011

Pretty good for a mid-priced canister vacuum

Update April 30, 2014:I can't believe this vacuum is almost two and a half years old already. It's holding up extremely well. Impressed with how clean it stays inside the canister--not a lot of dust and debris like we've had with some vacuums. I guess the bag seals well at the entry point, the filtration system is good. There have been no problems at all with this device.----My wife and I have been using the OptiFlow canister vacuum cleaner for a few weeks now, and we agree that it competes quite well with the CR-recommended Sears unit we also own. We like to keep two vacuums: one for upstairs and one for downstairs most of the year, and then we take one of them to our little summer cabin to use there during the summer. As mentioned elsewhere, there's lots of plastic in this device.Advantages:1. Good sucking power--not as strong as the other device we have, but probably 90 or 95% as much. A close second.2. Good... 4/5 J. Friedman "J-F" (Upstate NY USA) - See all my reviews, January 19, 2012

    works fine after a year

0 4/5 R. Wys "R. Wys" (MN, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Dirt Devil Featherlite Bagged Upright Vacuum, M085590RED (Kitchen) I was suprised to see that some of the other reviews portray this vacuum as useless. I bought mine from Target a year ago and it works wonderfully. Only complaints is that it's still pretty 'clunky' to carry around and that when you want to use the attachments it's hard to get the hose out. I've gone through a Shark brand vacuum that broke after 2 uses and an Orek XL that ate it's own cord but couldn't pick up Cheerios that my daughter spilled. I've had bad luck with vacuums but this one is doing just fine after 200+ uses.Feb. 2013: I just upgraded to a Bissel Trilogy Pet but my Dirt Devil still works wonderfully! Do not buy the canister version of this vacuum though! I've never had to replace the belt on it yet and I did replace the hose two months ago because my husband broke it where it attached to the base but it was a cheap fix. I still say this product is worth purchasing. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 19, 2008

Can suck the chrome off a trailer hitch but breaks

UPDATE After about 5 Months the part of the hose that connects to the motor ( see my pic) has had a piece break off that locks on the little peg; and now the end of the hose has a vertical crack in it where the attachments would connect. My concern all along after assembling this was the durability factor.I have a rainbow canister that I have decided to retire do the intensive assembly required for its operation. You have to fill the tank with water then place it it's caddy, place the motor on top of tank and then attach the hose from the power head to the motor. Then do the reverse to empty the water from the tank. So I decided to get an upright that you can just plug in and go.I'm not sold yet on the bag less uprights so I decided to go with the old tried and true one's with a bag.
